Hello

My name is Laura (MBPsS, MSc). I am a Trainee Health Psychologist based in the United Kingdom, specialising in women's health, body image and maternal health. Health Psychology is the study of health related behaviours, and explores how psychological, behavioural and cultural factors influence physical health and illness.

My Background

I took my Undergraduate Degree in Psychology at Goldsmiths University College, London, and followed it with a Masters in Health Psychology at University College London. I have almost completed a Doctorate in Health Psychology at the University of West England, delivering behaviour change interventions to clients, offering consultancy to services, and carrying out research on body image perceptions in those with endometriosis.

 

I have previous experience working in the NHS with patients with Eating Disorders, and a digital health company, supporting patients with Long Term Health Conditions. I also managed a Behaviour Change team of Behaviour Change Specialists, supporting individuals to change their habits and behaviours surrounding health behaviours. This included weight management, smoking cessation, alcohol reduction and increasing physical activity. I am currently a Health Improvement Lead, offering guidance on a number of national health programmes, and am a Research Supervisor and Associate Lecturer at the Institute of Optimum Nutrition,

 

Alongside this, I volunteer as a Support Group Leader for Endometriosis UK, providing a peer support network for those with Endometriosis. and have a Level 4 Qualification in Counselling and Psychotherapy, a Diploma in Eating Psychology Coaching and an Advanced Diploma in CBT.
